Moonsighting for Dhul-Hijjah 1436 (2015)

Dhul-Hijjah Moonsighting 1436 (2015)

Be part of a beautiful sunnah and come join us to sight the new moon for Eid ul-Adha 2015 / 1436H

Moonsighting is a huge part of Islam as we follow the lunar calendar. The Prophet s.a.w. has encouraged us to sight the moon and it is a fardu kifayah (communal obligation) to do so every month.

Register with us using the form below by Sun 13th 5pm to join us for this scenic and spiritual communal obligation! This will be an important sighting as visibility is quite low and it will be tricky to spot – the more eyes the better! Depending on whether we sight the moon, Eid ul-Adha will either be Thursday 24th or Friday 25th.

When: Monday 14th September 5:45pm (sunset at 6:16pm)

Where: Port Hills area (exact location TBC by email)

What to bring: Warm clothes, prayer mat, ruler & optical aid (optional)

* We will be providing a moonsighting chart and giving a quick tutorial on how to sight the moon.
