Over the past few weeks, a group of us along with our team leader, Asayal, have been busy designing and planning the cultural lounge for the upcoming Eid Festival. We are super psyched to announce that the cultural lounge will be a major feature of the festival and will be situated upstairs near the café serving drinks (primarily tea and coffee!) from all around the world.
What’s so special about the cultural lounge? Our vision is for the cultural lounge to reflect the beautiful diversity that is found in our Muslim community and therefore will feature artefacts, wall art, traditional clothing, etc., from several countries represented in our community. Just a few of the countries include Morocco, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Iraq, Palestine, Malaysia, Japan, and Pakistan.
There will also be seating, Arabian Nights style, available for you to enjoy your hot cup of coffee or tea, while you watch the cultural performances in the middle of the lounge.
Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll be gathering things to display in the lounge. So get ready to be transported to a different place, a different time, and immerse yourself in a unique cultural experience!
